Before making changes
Start with safe, useful checks
- Locate the SNID, serial number, or exact part number before downloading files.
- Complete Windows Update and restart before changing a working driver.
- Test power, display brightness, and an external monitor before assuming screen failure.
- Back up files and keep AC power connected for BIOS changes.
Do not install a BIOS or firmware file unless the exact model matches, the manufacturer’s instructions are clear, important data is backed up, and stable power is available. Interrupting firmware installation can leave a device unable to start.
