Before making changes
Start with safe, useful checks
- Use the product number—not only the series name—to find the correct support page.
- Run Windows Update before replacing working drivers.
- For printers, print a network or configuration page before resetting the device.
- Connect reliable power and back up important files before BIOS or firmware updates.
Do not install a BIOS or firmware file unless the exact model matches, the manufacturer’s instructions are clear, important data is backed up, and stable power is available. Interrupting firmware installation can leave a device unable to start.
